How common is the hair loss problem?

Everyone loses about 50 to 150 strands of hair every day. These hairs usually grow back. However, if hair follicles get thinner, regrowth will not occur. All men may experience some degree of gradual hair loss throughout their lives as a result of natural aging and changes in the male hormone androgen. However, hair loss is not limited to men. Women can also experience hair loss.

Why is my hair falling out?

There is no evidence that male-pattern or female-pattern baldness is directly related to tight scalp muscles, mental stress, washing frequency, shampoo-type, or skin conditions. However, various medical conditions can cause hair loss. The Meditürk team will advise you on the type of hair loss you are experiencing.

Am I a good candidate for hair transplant surgery?

Ideal candidates for hair restoration surgery are individuals with healthy hair on the sides and back of the head. These areas are used as donor areas for grafts. Men and women with significant baldness, hair thinning, and some degree of hair loss due to scalp injuries or repeated cosmetic procedures are generally good candidates for hair restoration surgery. Meditürk Clinic team will inform you about the treatment options during the first consultation.

Does the hair transplant procedure cause a lot of pain?

The aim of our treatment options such as fast healing hair transplantation, FUE hair transplantation, DHI hair transplantation is to cause zero pain. In certain cases, the pain factor is eliminated with the use of local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. However, you can get healthy information from the right experts about temporary discomfort and complication that you may experience in the period following the procedure.

Will I be able to participate in physical activities after hair transplantation?

Within five to seven days after treatment, you will be able to participate in many activities that you enjoy. Your transplanted hair is permanent and can be washed, cut, and dyed. However, your hair transplant specialist will share with you which situations you should consider.

Will my transplanted hair fall out again afterwards?

When you get hair grafts from the back and sides of your scalp, called autograft, to your bald areas, the hair will grow for a lifetime.

How long does the hair transplant process take?

Depending on the amount of hair loss, the process is completed within a few hours. If the balding area is very large, several sessions may be required to complete the treatment. In general, intervention is performed with sedation under local anesthesia.

When can I return to work after hair transplantation?

Most of our patients go back to work the next day. If you’ve lost most of your hair, you may need to take a few days off unless you’re wearing a hat to work. The skin looks red for about a week, but the scars, etc. can be covered with a material.

From which area is hair taken for hair transplantation?

In the process, the hair follicles taken from the nape area are transferred to the targeted bald area. These hair follicles taken are called grafts. In rare cases, there may not be enough healthy hair in the nape or temple area of the patient. In such cases, hair follicles can be taken from other parts of the body with hair, such as the patient’s arms or chest wall.

Is there such a thing as a hair transplant guarantee?

In order for hair transplantation to be successful, hair follicles must vascularize rapidly, that is, “stick” to the area where the roots are placed. When done with the right method, the success rate of hair transplantation is quite high. For a natural look, the hair should be planted at the right distance, at the right angle and at the right density to the spilled areas. As Meditürk, we guarantee 90% or more success, and we check this with frequent follow-ups.

Is hair transplantation a risky procedure?

Like every medical procedure, hair transplantation carries various risks. Hair transplantation is a long process and depending on the degree of hair loss, several transplantations may be required within 1-2 years. Although very rare, complications such as infection and significant scarring may occur. Pain, discomfort, some bruising and swelling can be seen after the surgery, which can be controlled with painkillers. There may be numbness in the areas where the hair is removed or transplanted, and this will resolve itself within 2-3 months.
